Hello again, subscribers!
First item of business: Time is running out to sign up for my Intro to Philosophy class.
We'll read Plato, Aristotle, Augustine, John of Damascus and many more to explore questions about knowledge, reality, and ethics. The course traces philosophical development from ancient Greece through medieval Christianity, and it wouldn’t be a Dr. Jacobs course if it didn’t include both Eastern and Western perspectives in the discussion.
Find the full course syllabus below.
The course is being hosted by my new company Profer. Many of you may be unaware that I wrote an op-ed for the Daily Wire last year. Well, one thing led to another, and I was persuaded that the market was ready for a real disruption in higher education. For a concise breakdown, watch this video:
We are conducting a 6-class beta test. Every single enrollment helps us know if this revolutionary idea will work.
Stay tuned for other classes by professors from Stanford, Notre Dame, Northern Arizona University, and more.
The national average for a private university 3-credit course is $4,479. My accredited class is $400 for credit and $175 for audit. That is a 91% discount.1
Profer is connected to PayPal, so there is an option to pay in 4 installments.

And for our second item. Thursday is again upon us, which means we’ve uploaded a new episode of The Nathan Jacobs Podcast. I spent the last two episodes going over the Eucharist—discussing transubstantiation, consubstantiation, real presence, and what the church fathers have to say about it.

Pricing varies across institution types. Community colleges average $450 per 3-credit course, public universities average $1,218 (in-state) to $3,432 (out-of-state), and private institutions average $4,479. Even compared to the lowest-cost option (community college), this course represents major savings while maintaining full accreditation and university-level instruction.
On the question in the podcast, my understanding is that Hocus Pocus derives from the words of institution in the Latin mass, specifically “this is my body.”
